Busy Sunday .....

This was a busy day.  I was able to attend church after three weeks.  It was wonderful to see everyone again.  Sunday school was a small class but we were excited for one of our members as her daughter was in labor with her first child.  Worship was wonderful and I really missed the singing.

After church, my daughter and her fiancé met me and took me out for lunch at Olive Garden.  Wonderful meal !!!!  Then my dd and I went to the Pink Bride Bridal Fair.  It is the second time that we have attend one and there were not as many vendors as last year.  Her wedding is five months away and we have done very little planning.  We have a deal that her father and I are not putting a penny towards the wedding until they get some pre-martial counseling.  We are still waiting for it to happen.  :(   She keeps making plans so that when they finally get some done we can start putting things in place.  So far we have reserved the venue and the reception site.  We have talked to a caterer and have gotten some decorating ideas for the reception hall.  She has her dress also.  We go on March 7 to look at bridesmaids dresses.

Once I got home, I have had dinner to make, papers to sort for dh and laundry to work on.  Dinner was grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup.  I tend to go low key on Sunday nights.

Today has been a busy day.  My daughter had all four wisdom teeth taken out and I had two doctors appointments - all before noon.  Thank goodness for her boyfriend who came to take her home for me and stayed until I got back.  My sweet daughter doesn't handle pain really well and we couldn't get her pain meds until I got back with the car.  Poor thing.  She just woke up very hungry so I have homemade chicken noodle soup on the stove smelling wonderful.  Dad and I will have grilled cheese sandwiches with it.  Perfect for a rainy night.   Well my dear son, Ian has officially withdrawn from college and has applied at a tech school.  He wants to study computer IT and found out that there is a nine month wait to get into the program.  So now he needs to find a day job to go with his night job.  His night job only gives him 20-27 hours a week and he will need more than that.  He is thinking of applying to substitute teach for the county.  His finance knows that this will delay the we...

I am back .....

I am starting to feel a little better and now dh is getting sick again. Wow we just can't get a break. I basically missed the entire month of May. So sad. Just was our 28th wedding anniversary. I can't believe that it has been that long already. We went to Cheekwood in Nashville to walk through the gardens. It is absolutely beautiful. We walked for two and a half hours and still didn't see everything. It was an absolutely amazing day weather wise which really helped also. We ate an early dinner at Ruby Tuesdays and then home for the night. By the time we finally got home my feet had swelled but it was still a wonderful day. Today I am working on this month's budget. Boy is it going to be a tight month. My birthday is next Saturday, thought I don't expect anything since money is tight also David has a workshop on the 4th which he will be on his own for lunch and then another class at the end of the month though it is only half a day. Stretching Your Food Budget

Now, I don't claim to be an expert by any stretch of the imagination.  However, I have seen more then my fair share of lean months.  Back when dh worked at a private school his paycheck would only cover the mortgage, the car insurance and the life insurance.  I had to make everything else and if I had been sick or one of the children sick then my paycheck would be short.  In recent memory, I have had to feed four adults (my children are 19 and 21 now) on $50 a week.  Like everyone else, who has been to the supermarket recently, I have been concerned up the steady climb of prices and the smaller packaging attached to those price tags.  Most women, through choice or necessity, work outside the home now and don't have time for "cooking from scratch".  At church on Sunday I heard, "well of course you can do that (I don't remember what now) you stay home all day."  Now I am a SAHM due to my disability and in that I do have more time than some folks but there ...
